To select the drivers for the new racecar a knockout competition has been made. This competition consists of three rounds and will take place in the next few months. During this knockout competition the possible drivers will be tested on speed, character, sense of responsibility and discipline.

The first round took place at the 29th of October. In the TMC Challenge, hosted by our sponsor TMC, 12 team members qualified themselves for the next round where they will have to prove themselves in a professional go-kart on an outdoor track.

A mockup is used to make sure we comply with the new FIA template rules and to optimize driver ergonomics. It is also useful to get an idea of how the URE05 will look compared to the URE04.

On the 19th of October we visited the FIA GT race in Zolder to get the real race feeling. We had a tour with GT 2 team Pro Speed Competition and GT1 team Phoenix Carsport before and after the warmup. The rest of the day was filled with race car action.

The first design review was held on Wednesday the 15th of October. It was very useful, with lots of feedback from old members, faculty members and other interested people.

Below are some of the concepts that were presented.

The engine for the URE05 has arrived. We will be using the Suzuki GSX-R 600 K2 again this year. The dry sump system and CVT add on for this engine are nearing completion. The next few weeks we will be modifying the engine and after that we will tune it for maximum performance on our engine test bed.
