Active electronic differential tested

One of the key features of the URE05e has been produced and tested in the past period: the active electronic differential. Because the URE05e is equipped with two independent electric motors, implementation of this type of differential is possible. The active electronic differential can send a different torque to each of the rear wheels to increase cornering speed.
In the following days towards the Formula Student events this active electronic differential will be tested more intensively.

Being racing enthousiast, our Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, couldn’t resist our full electric URE05e.
Last Wednesday we showed our brand new URE05e to the Dutch Prime Minister, who was very impressed by this achievement. He noted that he already knew our team and was very interested in the fact that we developed a full electric formula race car. “I’d like to race this car for a longer period of time” was his reaction.

Like every other Formula Student team, URE is used to race during daytime. However, for the first time in history we will drive our URE05e during the night in Germany.
The German endurance race for electric cars is scheduled on Saturday night instead of Sunday during daytime. For this very special event the Formula Student Electric organization has equipped their track with bright helium balloons to illuminate the track.
With the endurance race at night, not only the competing teams will experience a premiere in Formula Student, but also Formula Student Germany will be the first organization who takes this challenge to let Formula Student cars race during the night!
