University Racing Eindhoven was founded in September 2003 by a group of six enthusiastic students from the Eindhoven University of Technology. The faculty of Mechanical Engineering wished that students would be better prepared for the industry. The answer was the foundation of a team of students designing a racecar to compete in the Formula Student/SAE competition. The team was founded under the name Formula Student Racing Team Eindhoven (FSRTE). Because it was the first time they were developing and producing a racecar, they made it a 2-year plan. In the end it became clear that it was impossible to finish the car in time. They weren’t able to participate in one of the Formula Student events, but a new racing team was born!
